Tariq Aziz passed away


Tariq Aziz, a prominent name in Radio Pakistan, television, film, journalism, literature and politics, passed away today.

 Tariq Aziz was born on April 28, 1936 in Sahiwal.

 After completing his primary education in Sahiwal, he moved to Lahore.  Continuing his higher education at Oriental College Lahore, he started his career with Radio Pakistan.  He was one of the most memorable artists of the golden age of radio.

 When Pakistan Television started broadcasting from Lahore in 1964, Tariq Aziz was its initial announcer.

 In 1975, the 'Auction House' was started under the auspices of Tariq Aziz and later continued under the name of Bazm Tariq Aziz.

 Along with PTV, Tariq Aziz remained associated with the film industry and showed the essence of his acting in several films.

 His first film was Shabab Kiranvi's 'Humanity' which was released in 1967.  His other famous films include Birthday, Type of Time, Katari, Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan.

 Tariq Aziz also wrote columns and had the honor of interviewing the most famous political, social, film, literary and sports personalities.

 When he entered the political arena, he played an active role in the politics of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in the 1970s.

 For some time he could not devote time to politics due to his busy schedule of PTV and film.

 He later joined the Pakistan Muslim League and was elected MNA from Lahore in 1997.

 A collection of his columns has been published under the name 'Dastan' and a collection of Punjabi poetry titled 'Hamzad Da Dukh' has been published. He has received many awards in various fields of his life.  On August 14, 1992, the Government of Pakistan awarded the Presidential Medal for Excellence.
